Rome

Rome

Rome is a city that I traveled through in route to Croatia but I decided to stay for 3 days. Italy’s capital city definitely delivered in terms of food, ambiance, and architecture. This magical, whimsical eternal city is definitely worth extending your trip for. I think that 3 days/2 nights was plenty of time to explore this city. I managed to get around very easily with public transit and Uber. I traveled alone and felt completely safe, even at night. I am not the type to really plan a trip, I usually just book a fight and a hotel and then wander the city and see where I land.

Ready to wander the Ancient Roman roads on search of a new adventure? The roads of Rome were built somewhere between 300BC and the fall of the empire during the 5th century. Amazing how they are still intact. Makes you wonder about all those potholes in “modern cities” Just imagine, you are walking along the same paths as Ancient Romans. It a good thing that so many streets are closed to cars. You will see a plethora of bicycles and scooters all over, its a way of life here

A stunning view of the Vatican from one of the numerous Rooftop Bars. You can grad a light refreshing drink and just relax and take in the beauty of this postcard perfect city.

This building is actually pink, and I could not help but take a picture of it. The perfect Barbie inspired outdoor space, Roman style. I had to wait until the couple stopped smoking on the balcony. Yes, everyone smokes here it seems and they do it openly and everywhere so you have been warned.

A beautiful kiosk in the middle of the street selling, candy, fruits and vegetables and cigarettes.

No shortage of pasta on any restaurant menu here. Every place I visited from Fine dining to hole in the wall fast food had amazing pasta!

What would a visit to Rome be without seeing an Italian wedding in progress? Or maybe its just a photoshoot?

Capturing a photo at the Spanish Steps may prove to be challenging. Move quickly because the police will whistle at you and run you off if you attempt to sit on them. The Spanish steps are the largest and widest steps in Europe. There are 135 steps and three different terraces, referring to the Holy Trinity (the Trinità).

And Alas the Colosseum. It can hold up to 85,000 and was home to the Gladiator games. Amazing its still in such great condition. It really is a very beautiful structure with much attention paid to detail. Amazingly the Colosseum only took 8 years to build.

Trevi Fountain- One of the most famous fountains in the world and it was built during the 18th century. This Baroque style fountain is in pristine shape and is definitely worth viewing day or night.

Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi- I am biased towards this fountain because of the palm tree. The location in Piazza Navona is perfect for dining al fresco.

Street Artist, don’t forget to support living artist too!

Ponte Sant Angelo- 5 Stone arches supported by 7 meter high piers, adorned by angels. This is one of the most beautiful bridges I have ever seen and has amazing views of Castel Sant’ Angelou.
